I see yesterday she appeared live on the Larry King Show via a sattellite link together with Piers.

After admitting fancying Piers last week, he offered on the show to take her to dinner, which she accepted. I thought that was really nice of him.

I dont really see the hype. Yeah she was very good, but I dont think she was AMAZING, unlike Flawless were, I know its like comparing an apple to a pear, im just saying, personally, she didnt have the same effect as watching Flawless did to me. I've heard tons of better singers than her to be fair.

I think everyones just going crazy for her because when you look at her you think "Oh God, she's escaped" then she sings and you're like ok, that wasn't expected.

but yeah.. maybe I need to see more of her, I just dont really get the fascination.

Ah, but then I don't get the fascination for Flawless either, they bore me to tears Of course she isn't going to be to everyone's tastes, but she is going to have very wide appeal, I venture to say much wider appeal than Flawless

I really don't understand her sudden world wide fame. She must be the victim of some kind of internet meme surely?

I agree Susan's act can grow and grow - Flawless have a limit to what they can do... they have a certain Wow factor to begin with but then it's the same thing over and over.

Not really.. If anything Flawless alongside dancing is much less limitless than Susan and singing. Theres only so much she can do with her voice and the only thing thats going to change about her act is the song she sings and a makeover, Flawless have much more people to work with and not just one part of their body, watch Hip Hop dancing competitions on youtube, no crews two are the same.

I can't agree, KG, because in terms of a career, a singer has way more scope than a dancer or dancing group

A singer (with a voice like Susan's) has huge potential.  She could be in demand for anything from private and corporate functions to a lead role in a West End or even Broadway production, and all kinds of possibilities in between.  The fact that she has such an interesting and unusual background already has movie makers getting excited.

Flawless, as flawless as they were, are limited to certain kinds of events, perhaps being guests at another headliner.  I dunno, if I had money to invest in an artist, I would put it up for Susan without hesitation and wouldn't even consider Flawless.  They were brilliant and breathtaking but Susan moved people emotionally.  Also, if Flawless were to put out a DVD, there would be only a certain number of times that I would have the time to watch them, even if I absolutely loved them, which I do.  On the other hand, I would be able to listen to Susan's CD in the car, on the train, while cooking/cleaning, while gardening, while walking the dog, while dozing off to sleep, and I could even sing along. In terms of value and the-sky's-the-limit potential, Susan, the singer, would win hands down.

.****  For example, singers have the Grammys and The Brits, amongst numerous other industry awards..  Actors have the Oscars and BAFTAs also among numerous industry awards,  Everyone knows about these awards.  Is there a DANCING award, maybe there is, but who knows about it?   Michael Flatley probably has made a good living, but his career has limits when you put it into perspective alongside singers and actors, many actors can also sing AND dance.

My post from last week it say what as being said above .

Susan was amazing! hope she can sing others songs as good if so
she will take some beating .
Flawless very good BUT can they give somethink that will stand out in the next round ?.
Big Porkie and Little Porkie again can they do better and its got to be funnier than last night.
Evans Family ,the son wants to go solo, thats the only way the Evans name will be seen after the next round.
Iv,e seen some stippers in my time ,but the last act beats the lot.

oh I agree with you completely nickelodeon, singers will always have a longer and larger career than any dancer/s.

I was just disagreeing with dragonweb saying Flawless had more of a limit to what they can do compared to Susan. careerwise, yes, but I think theres only so much you can with your voice, dancing in a big group of people will always be more diverse and limitless imo.

Even though dance acts are limited in what they can do, for a three minute slot at the Royal Variety, its perfect.  Susan will have an amazing career, which will last long beyond the RVS, even if she doesn't win it, she doesn't need to win it to have a career, whereas I think Flawless need to.     Flowers

I totally agree kg, she was good but i am thinking 'get over it now'!!!

Flawless were excellent, really impressive. I could watch them time and time again. I would definitely get bored of Susan. Oh wait, i already am!

Appearances on American chat shows, own movie in the works, over the top hype...all after one performance. The world has gone mad. It's as if people thought ugly people couldn't sing before she came a long or something.

Susan was the right voice in the right place at the right time with a perfect song choice and some very good editing by the producers.  Over 30 million views on one you tube video alone and reaction videos being posted by viewers show she has struck some kind of chord all over the world.  It would certainly make a good thesis for a media studies student.

I think that with the world's economy being so worrying to many, it was a breath of fresh air to acknowledge something beautiful happening to someone who has had a "downtrodden" life.  Entertainment has always been an important relief and distraction from the realities of life during uncertain times.
