It's nice for Jade that she did well but I hope this will not make ALW even more big-headed. Then again, coming 5th might sound great but seeing that Norway won by such great lengths, it's worth less than other years in my opinion.

Why is it worth less? 5th out of 25 is still fifth out of 25 regardless of whether first and fifth are separated by five votes or 205. There were still only four performances which were deemed better

No you're probably right about that, what sticks is that you're fifth and not the total amount of points. I guess I'm still shocked at the huge amount of votes Norway got; I get why it won but with that amount of votes?! What it does say is that people thought Norway was way ahead of the other songs in the top 5, and in my opinion that does make it a bit different from other years. Especially for the top 3 I guess; I remember years in which there were 2 or 3 countries not very far apart in points which made it really exciting - for us and for them!

I think Jade was lucky to get 5th..  I found the performance very flat. I have heard her sing it better than that before.. not that I like the song, but it definitley wasnt a great rendition last night.

Sorry Minnie but I agree with TinkleFairyDust - I think she was very lucky to get 5th - there were alot of much better singers and songs who didn't get point - Malta was amazing and should have been in the top 3, also Sweden was good - I liked Germany even though Graham Norton kept slagging it off.
I thought Portugal was better than us to and Denmark - and too many others to think of.

Why are the media calling Jade a hero? Since when does coming 5th in a competition make you a hero.  Katrina and the Waves were called nothing of a sort when they WON the bloody thing back in 1997 I think it was.

It's all part of the carefully orchestrated (sorry for the bad pun) media strategy of ALW I guess.

It was your comment about why was 5th worthless - I thought you were saying that Jade did very well. I was just saying that I thought she was lucky to come 5th as there were a lot of better songs that should have been higher up.

I was replying to a previous comment which said that "coming 5th might sound great but seeing that Norway won by such great lengths, it's worth less than other years". I merely pointed out that 5th is still 5th regardless of the gap between first and fifth. I didn't actually offer any opinion as to whether Jade should have come first, fifth or twenty-fifth. As I didn't much care for the song I really wasn't bothered where it came and I was a bit surprised that she came as high as she did.

She's releasing a new single in September, here's a link to her video. The song's called my man, it should do pretty well if she gets enough publicity behind her

Like that...  She is much better suited to singing that kind of thing, than that rubbish they made her sing at Eurovision.

I completely agree, something a bit more upbeat suits her really well. The song's released in September and the Album either late 2009 or early 2010.

This definately suits her more, could be a hit. At the risk of sounding old (which I am not) though, I think it's a shame that the official people who put this on Youtube (record company, probably) found it necessary to put the words "HOT" and "SEXY" in the youtube listing.
Jade does indeed look sexy in the video  but I can see that for myself - pointing it ouy like this makes it seem like the song is just about how she looks, not how she sounds. Oh well, I guess that's how it is...

It's done to increase the views as she'll come up in more searches from the youtube search engine. Here's the full tags for it:

A few of her tracks were leaked. I'm loving punching out. My Man's out for pre-order now and at 60 in the Itunes chart which isn't bad given her terrible advertising The only time I've heard of the single without looking was a Spotify Advert.

Apparently Jade will become the next Sugababe as Keisha has left the band. There ore now no original members left. Strange, as Jade has just released her first solo single...

I'm lukewarm about this. I really like Jade but I think her voice is too strong to be in a group. I'm sure she must be feeling very odd, been told for weeks she's going to have a solo career and she's now in a girl band Unsure

Either way I wish her the best of luck. On another note my man is already number 33 in the Itunes Chart after a day of release. So she'll hopefully make the top 20!

I agree it must be strange, no idea who made the decision. It's also strange that she's on a different label than Sugababes and her own label is accepting this without problems - they even stopped promoting the single.

I know

She's a decent enough singer it's a shame her PR team were rubbish otherwise I'm sure the single would be doing better than it is.

And the Sugababes aren't doing too well any more so I'm not sure choosing to join them over a solo career is wise anyway?

They're still doing well, just not as well as they were before.

I'm guessing they want a decent vocalist to bring the band more up to date. From a purely production point of view, Jade's younger and has a strong distinctive voice. But it's a bit of a slap in the face to their old fans
