Starts Wednesday June 10th 8pm on BBC1 John Torode and Gregg Wallace are looking for the country's top celebrity chef.
This show features two heats. In the first, Rosie Boycott, Joel Ross and Michael Obiora cook for paying restaurant customers at the Cinnamon Kitchen. In the second, Jan Leeming, Jayne Middlemiss and Joe Swift cook at Pearl.
Only two of these contestants will get through to the quarter-final stage, which will take them one step closer to becoming the next Celebrity MasterChef... I'm not sure how accurate this is but this is the list of contestants according to Wikipedia: In 2009, the competitors will be Colin Murray, Simon Shepherd, Janet Ellis, Deena Payne, Iwan Thomas, Rav Wilding, Pete Waterman, Stephen K. Amos, Gemma Bissix, Shirley Robertson, Ian Bleasdale, Paul Martin, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Brian Moore, Saira Khan, Rosie Boycott, Michael Obiora, Joel Ross, Shobna Gulati, Dennis Taylor, Sian Lloyd, Jan Leeming, Joe Swift and Jayne Middlemiss
There will also be a week of Comeback contestants featuring Joe McGann, Marie Helvin, Linda Barker, Claire Richards, Rowland Rivron, Ninia Benjamin, Steven Pinder, Wendi Peters,Helen Lederer, Tony Hadley, Martin Hancock and Jeff Green. LINKCan't wait!

I'll be watching my daily dose of Springwatch (as well as trying to follow the footy) but I'll probably catch up with CM on iPlayer

^ You would be able to eat Jan Leemings plum fool We have the first two quarter-finalists, Rosie Boycott from the first heat and Jayne Middlemiss from the second. I thought Joel Ross was unlucky, I would have liked to see him go through instead of Rosie but I supoose I have to admit that Rosie seemed to be the better cook. I think Joel had a lot of potential though. I really liked Joe Swift in the second heat and he did well in the pro kitchen but his food in the last round just wasn't up to scratch and Jayne's sounded fabulous (and I wasn't that upset by her presentation either)

I agree Minnie..Jan Leemings just looked bland somehow, and what was she thinking with that pesto and noodles! I did like Joe Swifts combinations. Yep could have slurped the plum fool down.
Just as a matter of interest does anyone know where I can get citric acid from ( to make elderflower cordial) Boots won't sell it anymore because apparently its used in conjunction with certain drugs.

I was gutted that Gemma Bissix was first out yesterday I had a feeling that she would have done very well had she gone through to cook her own three courses but the classic recipe was her downfall. I was hoping they would boot Janet Ellis out instead on the basis that with her background and experience she ought to have been able to make custard and butterscotch sauce with her eyes shut (and indeed to follow a recipe, surely any home cook can do that ) so when it came down to it I considered her failure was actually a lot worse than Gemma's.

I agree that Janet should have been the first one to go. The judges seem to have forgotten last year when possibly the least experienced cook in the contest went on to win.
In the final cook off I think that the judges probably got it right.

I agree they probably did choose the right two, I just didn't like Iwan all that much, he comes across as too desperate to win rather than desperate to learn

That is probably down to his competitive nature, and he wouldn't have had the success he did in athletics without it.

There's something I just don't like about Iwan. Wendi or Jayne to win please and Wendi has the slight edge for me.
