Simon's putting together a charity single with as many artists he can at such short notice. Rumours are flying all over the place, including many of the X Factor winners & runner-ups. Here are some articles:

The line up for the single so far includes Rod Stewart, Mika, Michael Buble, Cheryl Cole, Leona Lewis, JLS and Westlife and Alexandra Burke.

On Wednesday Simon said 7 to 10 days.

It looks like Miley Cyrus and Jon Bon Jovi have signed up to it now too. I love Jon Bon Jovi.  Clap

Apparently it's available to download on 7th Feb, and buy physical cd on the 8th.  Not long to go at all!

Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue will sing on Simon Cowell's charity single for the victims of the Haiti earthquake, it has been confirmed. Clap Clap Clap

Several other artists are due to visit the Sarm studios in Notting Hill, London, on Tuesday to record their contribution.

Among them are Mika, James Morrison and Rod Stewart. Kylie Minogue will add her voice from a "secret" location where she is recording her new album.

The song choice seems kinda inappropriate to me. "Haiti you're hurting? well guess what EVERYBODY HURTS...some times."

Have you listened to the lyrics of 'Everybody Hurts' ?? It isn't a song that says stop whinging, everyone has bad stuff happening. It is a song about holding it together when bad stuff happens and saying it isn't bad to cry and feel hurt, just hold on to what you have

Sorry to double post as well but the song is also about suicide and not giving in to troubles and doubt. I can't think of a better song to represent the troubles going on in Haiti right now but that is just how I feel. Nobody knows what anyone has gone through to make that song mean something

I too think it is an excellent choice of song. It has real depth and meaning, it is going to be an emotional one to listen too though.

It's time! To face! The music!

« Reply #16 on: January 28, 2010, 07:44:02 AM »

I think it's a great choice. I didn't look at it as "Stop whinging Haiti, everybody has problems, etc...", I looked at it more as pointing out to Joe Public here, buying the single and hearing it on the radio, that there are always people - like those in Haiti - in worse situations than you.

I think the lyrics make light of the situation. I would choose a more uplifting song. "You are not alone" would have been a good choice if it hadn't been already done this year by Cowell and co.

'You are not alone' was also appropriate for the Great Ormond Street Charity single.

With Cowell it is as usual, pick an oldie out of an hat and it will do!

It may not be everyone's cup of tea but in the USA Gospel Singer went into the studio quite quickly to record a more fitting charity single, but then I am biased as I used to do a Gospel Show on Sunday mornings, as it is the roots of the music I love Soul!

We all have different opinions, and it would be boring if we all though the same, so no need to hide! LOL -  I do not like the song choice by Cowell, but then the Gospel single is more real music than ever Cowell could deal with - LOL
