X FACTOR losers OLLY MURS, STACEY SOLOMON and DANYL JOHNSON have had their star dreams crushed after SIMON COWELL axed plans to give ANY of them a record deal.

This must be quite a blow to Olly in particular. I think Simon and Syco have just too much on at the moment especially with taking XF to the States.

I'm sure they'll be picked up by another record label

I feel it would be a good idea that SyCo only have the Rights to sign the outright winner, then the other 11 are open to negotiate with any other record company including SyCo from January 1 after the final, it would be so much better for them to be free agents, but sadly that is not the game Cowell likes to play, keep lives "hanging on a string"

To be fair thats not true.  The tour is after Janurary 1st - a tour which gives the  contestants more publicity and pays them very handsomely to boot so its understandable why they wouldnt be released then.  After all going on the show..and having all that publicity..your undertaking to go on the tour which is part of that package..

As Kazzer said, they can't be released until after the tour, they all sign up knowing that from the start of the live shows.  Venues have been booked and tickets sold well before the XF ends in December.

I think he keeps the rights to sign the others just in case someone like Leona doesn't actually win the show. But the potential to be a star is obvious. It would be hard for an over 25 to win these days, but there could be an excellent singer and performer in that group.

But why should Sony be allowed to sign Jedward and release a single in January? even making sure The Haiti Single was delayed to allow Jedward a number one, no fdor me it stinks, it is all total Cowell control!

^ Nobody forced them to sign up, and of course Cowell has control, he's the one giving them their shot.

I don't understand how Jedward are allowed to release a record either. Louis is managing them, so that might have had something to do with it.

I don't think the Haiti single was delayed because of it. They only finished recording it this week, they couldn't have got it out by tomorrow.

Just looked on Amazon and it shows Jedward's single as a being released on 15th February, I thought it was tomorrow.

Thank you.  I thought downloads were only a day or two before the CD release, obviously not.

Suprise, suprise! If Simon doesn't want them, who does?

Answer. No one wants cherokee singers. They've had their fame like all those before them and then they slide into complete oblivion and out of the public eye completely. It's the same every year. I find it extrememly boring how some people idolise over them and are deluded enough to think they can make it in the music industry. Yawn.

Lol Ellie

And to be honest other contestants ie Ruth Eoghan Laura Diana did not win the show but still got recording contracts.  I have no doubts that Stacey Danyl and Olly will get short term ones at least.

You're missing the point. The report says that they are performing in Butlins already, isn't a place like that where the sceptics say they will end up performing? That's like performing in a pub or at a wedding. Not my idea of stardom really.

You can't deny that it's not the best start to their 'careers' though. Simon is just being nice when he says he's too busy and wants to concentrate on Joe. The fact that he wants to concentrate on Joe shows that he's not that, if at all interested in them.

It doesnt show that at all.  Maybe he just has limited money to offer record deals with.  Not jut that personally the idea of the show is to offer the "winner" a contract and if he gives half the contestants a contract that kinda demeans the whole point of it and devalues its for the winner.

So because Simon Cowell doesn't want them, no-one else will?  That's not how the recording industry works!  Quite a few of those who didn't win X-Factor in previous years have gone on to get recording contracts with other companies - which does rather blow your 'If Cowell doesn't want them, no-one will' theory out of the water.  Believe it or not, Cowell isn't the be-all-and-end-all.

The sceptics use the 'Butlins' argument because to them, that's seen as being a failure.  But the Butlins circuit is a great way for young performers to get much needed experience of performing in front of live audiences.  Stacey, for example, really lacked stage presence, confidence and the ability to engage with an audience - that was her weakness.  Getting out there and performing in front of live audiences (be it in clubs, concert venues or Butlins) is the only way to get that experience and confidence.

The sceptics seem to think that being successful means being instantly famous and having an instant hit single/album, but that's rubbish.  It takes time to put together an album, for example - writing (or sourcing) the songs, recording demos, choosing which ones should be included on the album, recording the album.  Hence why many artists take a year or more to work on an album.  I think X-factor has dumbed down people's perception of how things work in the recording industry.  Hence the moaning when someone doesn't have a recording contract in place or an album out five minutes after X-factor ends!

Well, theyve got a tour to do which will last a few months and will make them £100,00 each. I'd be quite happy to take that and then forge some sort of career in T.V./stage.  Like someone said earlier in the post, they know what they let themselves in for when they enter these competitions so should be prepared.  I think before you go on TV, you have a session with a shrink to make sure you can cope with the highs and lows (didnt quite work out for SuBo unfortunately)
